Multimedia artists and Animators salary

Multimedia artists/animators use technology to create graphics and animation for electronic media, such as internet, film, television, and video games. This is a highly artistic position which requires intimate knowledge of the latest multimedia computer programs and software.

Required skills for the job include computer skills, drawing skills, and the ability to create artistic and realistic images which capture light, texture, shadow, and color using computer programs such as Adobe Photoshop. These artists must also be knowledgeable of movement and three-dimensional design and may use relevant modeling programs regularly.

Most multimedia artists and animators have a bachelor's degree in graphic design, digital arts, or a related field, and a portfolio of past work is often required to demonstrate proficiency in particular areas. These artists' skills and techniques must always be improved and expanded, as new programs and technology are constantly introduced to the industry. They must be able to communicate their project leaders' visions through their creations, so good communication skills and the ability to work well on teams are essential. Good time-management skills are also beneficial, as they may work on individual projects for weeks or months at a time.

The working environments of multimedia artists vary depending on the size and culture of their companies, which range from small firms to large special effects companies. Most work in an office environment during normal business hours and collaborate with their art directors, other artists and animators, and occasionally the IT department regarding technological matters.
