Describe the various software used for multimedia

1.)Teacher will present a PowerPoint presentation that explains what multimedia is and defines the different types of multimedia projects.

2.)In groups of six, students will compile a list of the different types of Presentation, Desktop Publishing, Graphics, Web Design, Digital Video, and Digital Photography software programs that are available, including information about the features of each program, the system requirements, and the price. Each student in the group will research one type of software. They will record the information in a spreadsheet. They will search for the information on the Internet, in a software magazine, or by visiting or contacting a store that sells software. Once they compile the information, they will rate the programs in terms of value. They should consider such factors as the cost as well as the number of features, the types of files that can be created, whether additional hardware would need to be purchased to use the program, and whether the program is easily available in stores or on the Internet. When the research is complete, students in the group will share the information and record the data into their individual spreadsheet.

3.)Review how to use a spreadsheet and have students open the attached software comparison spreadsheet to use for their research project.

4.)Students will create a tri-fold brochure using a desktop publishing program or word processing program using the information from their research. Teacher will review guidelines from the attached rubric for the brochure.
